Six Ways Drivers Choose Between the Genesis GV60 vs GV70 Electrified

  1. How Fast Can The EV Go?

The 2024 Genesis Electric GV70 boasts the highest performance so if you are looking for the most zoom-zoom-zoom factor, you’d probably start there.

However, there are three Genesis GV60 powertrain choices, giving shoppers a range of options.

To achieve an excellent 225 horsepower, a single motor is mounted on the rear wheels for the GV60 Standard. This rear wheel drive powertrain is unusual among electric vehicles which typically have front-wheel mounted single motors. The setup gives the GV60 plenty of kick in the form of 258 lb-ft of torque to the rear wheels.

To create electronic all-wheel drive, Genesis adds a motor to the front wheels. That’s how the EGV70 achieves 483 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. Obviously this model is the driving enthusiast’s dream.

However, the Genesis GV60 Advanced and Performance trim levels are quite competitive, churning out 446 lb-ft of torque. Advanced GV60 EVs generate 313 horsepower while the Performance versions generate 429 horsepower.

All in all, this gives driving enthusiasts four choices ranging from good to great to incredible.

  2. How Far Can the Electric Range Take You?

The 2024 Genesis GV60 has the longest driving range. So if you are most concerned about long distance travel you would probably start there. It can go up to 294 miles on a single charge.

If you choose the higher powered trims of the GV60, the range is either 235 or 248 miles. If you choose the electrified GV70, the range is still an excellent 236 miles. You can't go wrong here, but you can choose the greater range if it is the most significant factor in making your purchase decision.

Whichever Genesis electric SUV you drive, you have four distinct modes. These alter throttle, suspension, and steering to deliver Eco efficiency or Sport excitement.

  3. How Well Does the Genesis EV Handle the Road?

Whichever Genesis electric SUV you drive, you won’t have a learning curve. In fact, you’ll have extra tools that help you control the EV’s response, depending on conditions.

The first mode alters throttle, suspension, and steering to deliver Sport excitement. That’s perfect when the highway’s moving or you are on a back road where you can sow your wild oats. An Eco mode alters the same functions to achieve the most efficient driving range. For instance, you can get more out of the electric range at the same time you are stuck in slow traffic.

  1. How Bumpy is the Ride?

If the ride quality is good, handling is easier. So, the 2024 Genesis eGV70 has an electronic controlled suspension. This utilizes a road preview to help the system alter the suspension in real time as it anticipates the dips or bumps the camera sees directly ahead.

To get this excellent feature on the GV60, shoppers can step up to the GV60 Performance trim. Otherwise, the Genesis EV has a fine-tuned suspension that ensures a luxury-level ride quality.

  2. How Fast Can the Genesis EV Brake?

Front and rear ventilated disc brakes are a GV60 standard while the Electrified GV70 adds monotube front brakes. This feature is available on a higher trim of the GV60.

In the Genesis GV60 and Electrified GV70, the driver can utilize regenerative braking modes and even use paddles to change modes in a moment. At slow speeds, regen braking can collect maximum power during braking. At high speeds, it can provide more braking power with less emphasis on collecting power.

  1. How Efficient are the Genesis EVs?

While you will skip the gas pump, it’s entirely reasonable to ask how efficient the Genesis EVs are. The Genesis GV70 Electric is estimated to get 98 mpg-e in the city and 83 mpg-e on the highway. That’s a combined rate of 91 mpge. The Genesis GV60 Performance is similar with a combined 90 mpge rating.

However, you can do even better with the GV60 Advanced model. It earns 103, 86, and 96 mpg-e in the same city-highway-combined driving.

For the least expensive Genesis EV to fuel, it’s definitely the 2024 Genesis GV60. This rear-wheel drive, single-motor edition earns 122 mpg-e for city, highway and combined driving. That brakes down into an incredible 125 mpg-e around town and 99 mpg-e at highway speeds.

  2. How Luxurious Are These Genesis EVs?

Covered in a rich leatherette, front seats in the 2024 Genesis G60 are power-adjustable with a power cushion extension for the driver. Both positions have power heat and four-way lumbar support, too. They have exclusive features such as their automated exterior door handles.

Genesis EVs have additional exclusives including fingerprint authentication and Face Control. These allow drivers to enter and start the vehicle without the need of a key.

The 2024 eGV70 starts off with all leather upholstery. Its driver’s chair is upgraded to include Ergo Motion and Posture Care. Plus both front seats get power-ventilation, a favorite here in our Phoenix AZ summers. Ambient lighting, a power-adjustable steering wheel, and an 8-inch digital instrument panel. These are standards on the GV60 Advanced as well.

To get the larger 12.3-inch digital instrument panel, you upgrade to the eGV70 Prestige model. It also comes with Nappa leather, a suede-like headliner, and a leatherette wrapped instrument panel. Other standards include heated steering wheel, heated 2nd row seats, and active noise control. These are standard on the GV60 Performance models.

The eGV70 Prestige also has Lexicon® Premium Audio for entertainment and White Brake Calipers for an extra bit of curb appeal.
